- Sim, nós reconhecemos algumas caras aqui e ali. Nós temos certamente alguns fãs malucos, não temos? ;)

Out Of This World / Prisoners in Paradise?

Talvez daqui a uns anos…

Hello! Let me start by saying that it’s a pleasure to have you with us on this interview.

- A pleasure to be here.

Well you just have released your new album “Last Look At Eden” in Sweden and the other countries will follow very soon, this album is a real killer and it feels like you’ve discovered the right balance between your early influences and the modern sound. Tell us more about the album and recording.

- In my view it turned out to be a sort of “70’s meets the new millennium” album.
It was mainly recorded in Gothenburg and some guitars in Stockholm.
Symphony orchestra was recorded in Prague (great beer in the Czech Republic!).
We had a great time working with Tobias Lindell as engineer and co-producer.
We also invited some friends to the studio to sing background vocals (Kleerup & Titiyo & Andreas Carlsson).

There are some songs with a bit of humour and spicy elements such as “Mojito Girl”, “U Devil U” and “Catch That Plane”. Can you tell us more about the ideas for these songs in the lyrical sense?

- As you say, the lyrics on these songs are a bit tongue n’ cheek. Mainly about women & sex ;)

We’ve seen some great reviews of the album and there’s a big interest in you again which is great. Do you see yourselves filling greater venues on the new tour? We sure hope so.

- That’d be great but the European part was booked before the release so I think the size of the venues will be about the same as last time.

Your concert in Faro, Portugal was very awesome, emotive, powerful and very entertaining. How was the show from your point of view? Did you enjoy your stay in our country? Do you plan to comeback here in 2010?

- It all went very smooth and we loved it and especially talked to the promoter saying we really wanted to come back and play in Portugal soon again.

Some of us already went to Spain and Sweden to see you live before you played here, what is our opinion about your travelling fans? Do you notice that are people travelling to see you live?

- Yes, we do recognize some faces here and there. We sure have some crazy fans, don’t we? ;)

This time you’re working with EDEL (earMusic) on the European release. How does this new deal with a major label will contribute for better promotion and support with the release?

- It’s always easier when you’re with a company with some muscles behind it. They’ve been showing us a strong will to work this album and we really enjoy working with them so let’s hope for the best.

After the interview of Joey Tempest with record collector magazine there was a question on our minds. Will you ever release a demo collection or even a DVD with Out Of This World / Prisoners in Paradise tour concerts in the future?

- The DVD is a good idea but unfortunately I don’t think there are any good recordings and footage from that time…
A demo collection is not anything I can see in the near future. Maybe in a few years…

Can we expect a new live DVD from the “Last Look At Eden” world tour? It’s been four years since you released “Live From The Dark” and a lot has changed since then, you’re even better live and the new songs work very well live and it would capture the vibe we feel on your shows.

- We’re always evaluating these kind of possibilities. But there is nothing decided yet.

Have you thought of doing a concert with a big orchestra like Metallica and Scorpions did? It would suit well with “Last Look At Eden” songs and some other selected ones.

- We have been talking about it but if we do something like that it will be a very different thing from what the bands mentioned above have done.

After reading the recent interview on ultimate-guitar where you told that you will put up to five songs from the new album and that it’s harder each tour and that you have to find a balance, and to squeeze in all the songs you want to play. Why don’t you extend your shows to 2 hours – 2 hours and half like Metallica and Scorpions do? Then you would have time to play a handful of new songs from LLAE and add some classic ones that you never played live since reunion or played only on special shows like in Japan with ‘Stormwind’.

- We believe 1.30 – 1.45 is a good length of a show. We tend to get a bit bored ourselves when watching a show that’s longer than 2 hours.

We've come to the end of our interview, thank you for your time and availability to answer our questions. Good luck for the upcoming tour and may you enjoy every second of it. Feel free to send a message to all the Portuguese fans out there reading this interview.

- We know we have a great fan base in Portugal and would like to thank everyone for hanging in there although we haven’t been able to perform there until this summer. We really hope we can come back to play soon again. Thank you for being there!

We take this chance to thank Hangenburg, the assistants Klara and Linda, some fans like Manuela Silva, Paula Costa and Paula Teles that had contributed with some questions and as it couldn't be otherwise to our special guest and excellent keyboardist, Mic Michaeli. Thank you very much for making this interview possible.
